Harper was strong and healthy from the start and immediately took to nursing. Robin and I kept her in our room Monday and Tuesday nights. We were both running on empty by Wednesday night, so we thought we would get more sleep by sending her to the nursery. We couldn't have been more wrong! It hurt to be away from her. I woke up every time I heard a baby cry and couldn't wait for her to come in to nurse. Eventually, I had her stay in the room so I could relax and get some much needed rest.
Since I had a cesarean birth, we had the option of staying in the hospital until Friday. However, all three of us were a little stir crazy and eager to spend comfortable home time with Grammy Lou, Pops and Aunt Summer, so we opted to go home Thursday afternoon.
We had a few special friends visit the hospital. I was a little distracted and neglected to take pictures of everybody who stopped by, but we have a few pictures from our stay...
Grammylou is a speech pathologist and enjoyed observing Harper's hearing test, which she passed beautifully.
Our friend Roger Ellison was in town for meetings and stopped by the hospital to meet Harper. Roger is a very special family friend. He and his wife, Linda, read a passage during our wedding.
